Listening to music is where most of my ideas for personal projects come from. Sometimes the lyrics just click and a vision for a poster flashes before my eyes (not a preferable scenario while driving). Road safety aside, this poster was inspired by the lyrical genius Hozier in his song “I, Carrion”. Technically the song is about Icarus from Greek mythology, however my mind went immediately to a different figure in mythology, Atlas. Below you can see my reference photo for the lovely Atlas and my first sketch of this design. Created in Adobe Illustrator and Procreate, maybe one day Hozier himself will see it.
